Our adventure to Pier 39.

Monday, June 13th was just the beginning to our 3 day family vacation. We loaded up the car and hit the road just after 11am. We missed all rush hour (yay), only got lost once (phew), and made it to our hotel in perfect time to check in, drop off our luggage, and hit the pier (yahoo!)

After a somewhat quick 4ish hour drive we instantly perked up when the San Fran skyline was in view. Luckily, I had my camera on top of our luggage and was able to get it out quickly to capture our first views of the city. The image below was taken just as we came into view of the Bay Bridge and city skyline. Very exciting for us kids in the car as it was Kayla's first trip to Cali/San Fran!
Getting ready to cross the Bay Bridge.
We are now crossing the Bay Bridge... Say Cheese!!

The first glimpse of the Golden Gate on the not super foggy day.
After we checked into the hotel, we walked up and down hills trying to get to the pier and ended up at this dead end just below Telegraph Hill. We looked to our right and saw this beautiful view of the Bay Bridge.
To our left was more hills... but stopping in the crossroads, we saw this incredible view of the Transamerica Building.
Finally making it to the top of Telegraph Hill and found this big tourist trap, Coit Tower. We decided since we're already on top of this hill, we mine as well go with it and enjoy the journey before heading back down to the pier. Love these shots!
Jake and Kayla lead the way to Coit Tower.
Woo Coit Tower!
What a view! Check out the Bay Bridge... so pretty! It was definitely worth the steps up to it.
Telegraph hill sign.
Jake and the adorable Kayla at Coit Tower.
First glimpse of Alcatraz!
Heading back down the hill in search of Pier 39... what a beautiful view!
Whoa! We stumbled upon the curviest road... Lombard Street! Check out all the little squiggles in that road! I love the way I framed this image. It was pretty funny actually. We (the kids) were all standing in the middle of the road while mom watched our backs... you know, we didn't want to get ran over and it's pretty difficult to see cars while you're trying to get a good shot lol
Check it out... we finally found Pier 39!
I think the sign does the talking for this one...
A full view of Alcatraz! How beautiful... so much history here and it's still the thing that Jake and I look forward to most about San Francisco. It's been about 10 years since we'd been inside of that prison and just couldn't wait to show Zach and Kayla!
Circling back to the sea lions...
Jake spots one swimming away and we follow him as he pops up for air when he jumps up on his own board walk. We rushed over to get some portraits of this little guy. He was VERY photogenic!

I shot this while walking and trying to keep up with Jake and Kayla as they raced to Bubba Gumps lol I love it... great shot with Alcatraz and the flag :)
My little kid meal from Bubba Gumps lol How awesome is that? (psst... I took it home! ha!)
After Bubba Gumps, we headed into Pier 39 and went shopping. Once dusk began to set in, we headed home and around 9pm we were back into our hotel room.

Here are the gifts we got our Roomie for watching the house and cats.

And of course the gifts I bought myself lol

Check out our view! That lighthouse looking thing... that's Coit Tower!
What a trip ;)

Yesterday Zach and I got a chance to just relax and hangout together after a week of being home. It was a much deserved day. Zach had worked a full week with long hours and I was busy catching up with my business so it was really good to just hangout. We went and saw Green Lantern and Bad Teacher then came home and hung around the house. It was a great day. Looking forward to the 4th with my man and some Denver fireworks :)
Alcatraz, Angel Island, and the Aquarium are up next! Stay Tuned!!
